Authorities responded to reports of a shooting around 5:17 p.m. While initial reports caused alarm, officials quickly confirmed there was no active shooter and the situation was contained.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez initially reported an ongoing situation, later clarifying that the incident appeared to be an isolated event involving two individuals who fled the scene. The Katy Police Department (KPD) took the lead in the investigation.
A subsequent KPD statement on X (formerly Twitter) confirmed that shots were fired near Entry 4 of the mall. Importantly, no injuries were reported, and the scene was secured. The department advised people to avoid the area and expect travel delays.
