He has hosted the show since its inception, with the exception of the third season, which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. The show’s engaging format quickly captivated audiences, becoming a nationwide favourite. KBC offers contestants the opportunity to win substantial prizes through their knowledge, transforming lives in the process.
Reflecting on the show’s longevity, Bachchan shared a poignant observation with a contestant: “When KBC first debuted, no one expected it to continue this long. Yet, it gradually captured everyone’s interest. This has been beneficial for us because we have learned a lot. Many individuals come here in sorrow; their lives change here. This show has changed people’s lives.” This sentiment highlights the show’s impact beyond the game, becoming a platform for personal stories and emotional connections.
The blend of knowledge and heartfelt personal anecdotes is a defining characteristic of KBC. A recent episode featured iconic singers Shankar Mahadevan and Gurdas Maan as special guests. Gurdas Maan shared a cherished memory from Shweta Bachchan’s wedding, where he performed and received a 500-rupee note from Amitabh Bachchan as a token of appreciation – a memento he still treasures. He expressed his deep respect and love, stating, “I recall being in Delhi for Shweta’s wedding, where our group performed. He (Amitabh) stood in front of us. Following my performance, he presented me with a 500-rupee note. I still have the note with me.” Shankar Mahadevan responded with a similar anecdote, noting his own performance at Abhishek Bachchan’s wedding.
Beyond KBC, Amitabh Bachchan’s illustrious film career continues. He was recently seen in the action thriller *Vettaiyyan*, alongside Rajinikanth and Fahadh Faasil, receiving a decent response from fans. His upcoming projects include the courtroom drama *Section 84*, directed by Ribhu Dasgupta and co-starring Abhishek Banerjee and Nimrit Kaur. The release date for *Section 84* is yet to be announced.
