Shah Rukh Khan’s Heartbreaking Moment as Kolkata Knight Riders Owner

Kolkata, India: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, the owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has shared his “saddest moment” during his tenure as an owner.

‘Our Attire was Better than Our Game’: SRK Recalls Criticism

In a recent interview with Star Sports, Khan expressed that despite having “the nicest set of team in the world,” KKR faced significant criticism and setbacks during its early days. He recalled a particularly hurtful remark made by an expert who dismissed the team’s performance, saying, “Only their playing kit is nice, not their game.”

“It used to hurt,” Khan admitted. “We wanted to come back stronger and prove ourselves. That’s what we did with Gauti (Gautam Gambhir) and the team.”

KKR’s Rise to Prominence

Khan’s sadness eventually turned into pride as KKR evolved into a dominant force in the IPL. Under the leadership of Gambhir, the team won its first IPL title in 2012 and has since added two more championships to its tally.

Khan attributed KKR’s success to the team’s resilience and determination, which he believes is a testament to the spirit of sportsmanship. “Sports teaches you how to lose but never be losers and never give up hope,” he said.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Cinematic Journey

Beyond his success as a cricket team owner, Shah Rukh Khan is well-known for his illustrious career in the Hindi film industry. His latest film, Dunki, was released in December 2024, and he is currently working on King, a Red Chillies Entertainment production directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The film reportedly stars his daughter, Suhana Khan, and features SRK in an iconic role as a Don.
