Kojima's Upcoming PlayStation Game: Physint – A Comment

Hideo Kojima provided an update on several Kojima Productions projects, including the highly anticipated PlayStation exclusive, *Physint*, a stealth action game marking the studio’s return to the genre after *Death Stranding* and the Xbox exclusive *OD*. The announcement of *Physint* at the January 2024 PlayStation State of Play generated considerable excitement among *Metal Gear* fans, eager for Kojima’s return to the style of gameplay he helped define. While still in early pre-production, *Physint* is described as a “next-gen action espionage game,” with development slated to begin in earnest following the release of *Death Stranding 2* in 2025. No gameplay footage was shown, but Kojima emphasized his intention to utilize cutting-edge technology and talent.

In a subsequent New Year’s post on Twitter, Kojima expressed gratitude for the support received in 2024, a year marked by the *Death Stranding 2* trailer release, ADR recording, and the ongoing development of *Physint*. He revealed that the 2024-2025 SAG-AFTRA strike delayed *Physint*’s casting process, pushing its progress into 2025. The strike also impacted *OD*, halting planned actor and environment scanning. Kojima also mentioned personal projects, including a new HideoTube episode and preparations for the *Death Stranding* live-action adaptation.

Kojima’s comments hinted at a deeply cinematic and stealth-focused experience for *Physint*, inspired partly by a personal health scare in 2020 and persistent fan requests for a new *Metal Gear*-style game. However, with *Death Stranding 2’s* 2025 release date, *Physint* remains some time away. Speculation among fans includes the possibility of a PlayStation 6 release, rather than a launch on the current PlayStation 5 generation.
