Attorneys for Chicago Public Schools CEO Pedro Martinez have sent a letter to the Chicago Board of Education demanding they “cease and desist” from negotiating a new contract with the Chicago Teachers Union. This action follows the board’s vote to terminate Martinez’s contract, a decision he plans to challenge in court on Tuesday. While the board, appointed by Mayor Brandon Johnson, has voted to fire him, Martinez remains CEO for the time being. He alleges that some board members have improperly interfered in the ongoing contract negotiations. ABC7 has contacted the board for comment.
