Lewis B. “Grumpy” Shattuck, Jr. (1934-2024)

Lewis B. “Grumpy” Shattuck, Jr., 90, of Wernersville, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the Reading Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Shearer) Shattuck for 66 years.

Lewis was born in Lowville, NY, to Lewis B. and Mary Ellen (Smith) Shattuck. He was a 1951 graduate of Hampton Bays High School and a 1956 graduate of Drexel University, known at the time as the Drexel Institute of Technology.

Lewis served in the US Army and had a successful career with GPU Service Corporation. He retired in 1990 as a Computer Applications Manager after 32 years of service.

After retiring, Lewis and Barbara traveled extensively throughout the country and world for 28 years. Lewis’s love of travel was exceeded only by his love for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Barbara; three children: Kathleen A., wife of Keith A. Klinger; Jo Ann, wife of Gordon G. Smith; and Lewis B. Shattuck, III, husband of Carolyn M.; a brother, Charles J. Shattuck; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, May 24th, at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-3:00 PM, Friday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s (Hain’s) UCC, 591 N. Church Road, Wernersville, PA 19565.
