It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lucille “Lu” Belli, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lu passed away peacefully at her home in Antioch, IL on May 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 20, 1942, in Chicago, IL, Lu was the daughter of James and Carolyn Mazzocchi. On June 20, 1964, she married Allen J. Belli, who preceded her in death in 2014.

Lu is survived by her four devoted daughters: Debbie Short, Kim Humphreys, Susie Hardiman, and Janine Hogan. Her legacy lives on through her 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Tony Mazzocchi, and beloved husband Allen.

Lu’s greatest joy in life was time spent with her family. She cherished family gatherings, especially summer beach vacations. Through her Italian heritage, she instilled beautiful traditions, such as making ravioli, Christmas cookies, and canning tomatoes.

Beyond her family, Lu was an avid golfer, voracious reader, and volunteer at her local food pantry. She was also an active member of her community women’s club and enjoyed traveling with Allen to picturesque destinations.

Lu’s unwavering love and unwavering commitment to her family and community will be deeply missed. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide her loved ones for generations to come.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Gurnee, IL. A memorial visitation will commence at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
