Lucknow Airport Soars: 5.21 Million Passengers!

Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) reports robust growth in passenger and cargo traffic during the first nine months of fiscal year 2024-25 (April-December 2024). Managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), the airport saw a total passenger count exceeding 5.21 million, representing a 5.7% increase compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. Domestic passenger traffic reached 4.34 million, while international travel contributed over 870,000 passengers. This growth highlights Lucknow’s increasing importance as a regional travel hub.

Air traffic movements also saw an 11% surge, reaching 38,953 compared to 35,190 in the corresponding period of FY 2023-24. Popular domestic destinations included Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, while Muscat, Dammam, and Dubai topped the list for international travel. The airport currently operates over 140 daily flights, averaging more than 21,500 passengers per day, and connects to 29 domestic and 10 international destinations. Recent additions include new AirAsia Malaysia flights to Kuala Lumpur and Air India Express flights to Bangkok.

Beyond passenger traffic, CCSIA also experienced significant growth in cargo operations. A 7% increase resulted in the handling of 16,655 metric tons of cargo (12,700 metric tons domestic and 4,161 metric tons international), compared to 15,597 metric tons during the same period last year. This increase is attributed to the growth in both domestic and international flight connections, including routes to cities like Dammam, Riyadh, Manila, and Muscat.

A spokesperson for CCSIA attributed the positive results to the airport’s commitment to seamless connectivity and world-class service standards, particularly within the newly inaugurated Terminal 3. The spokesperson emphasized the airport’s dedication to maintaining high safety and security standards while exceeding passenger expectations. The continued growth underscores Lucknow’s expanding role in India’s aviation sector.
