He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:59 p.m. on Saturday. Vestavia Hills police are currently investigating Hudson’s death and have not yet released a statement.

Hudson’s obituary notes that he was an organ donor, bringing comfort to his family. A scholarship, the Hudson J. Hudson, the son of Lani and Derek Meek, was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, where he played football and was involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Honor Choir, and Student Government Association (SGA). Outside of school, he enjoyed spending time with friends, water sports, outdoor activities, travel, and acting for television and film. A passionate sports fan, he particularly loved football, basketball, boxing, and the Auburn Tigers.

His obituary describes Hudson as reflective and thoughtful, yet tenacious in his pursuits. He earned his open water scuba diving certification at age 13, followed by an advanced certification later that year. He possessed a unique personality—confident, principled, spontaneous, and quick-witted, with a penchant for humorous storytelling. A prankster who loved making others laugh, he thrived in social settings and served others readily. His obituary concludes by describing him as a vibrant and dynamic person who lived life to the fullest.

Hudson was an accomplished actor, beginning his career with his brother, Tucker Meek, at a young age. He appeared in several major motion pictures and television shows, some of which are slated for release in 2025. His on-screen debut was in 2014’s “The Santa Con,” and he had roles in various TV series, including “MacGyver.” He is perhaps best known for his role in the 2017 film “Baby Driver,” where he played a younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character.

Above all, Hudson’s family emphasizes his deep Christian faith. He actively participated in Bible study, youth retreats, mission trips, and church services. He attended various youth events at different churches, always seeking opportunities to connect with others through his faith.
