New Jersey Transit riders have until Tuesday, August 1, 2024, to claim refunds for unused tickets. This applies to one-way bus, rail, and light rail tickets purchased before June 1, 2024, as well as rail 10-Trip tickets (equivalent to ten one-way tickets bought in a single transaction). Tickets purchased between June 1 and June 30, 2024, must be used by July 31, 2024, and are not eligible for refunds. Tickets purchased from July 1, 2024, onward are subject to NJ Transit’s standard 30-day expiration policy.
Refunds for paper tickets can be requested at any NJ Transit ticket office or window. Customers should bring their receipts and provide contact information to expedite the process. Refunds typically take three to four weeks to process. For tickets purchased online, customers should print unused one-way tickets and follow the same instructions as for paper tickets. Unused NJ Transit Mobile App tickets purchased before June 1, 2024, will be automatically credited to the customer’s in-app electronic wallet; no action is required.
Further information is available on the NJ Transit website.
