Obituary: Alice Louise Callis, 92
Nashua, N.H. Resident Passes Away Peacefully
Alice Louise Callis, a longtime resident of Nashua, N.H., passed away peacefully on May 20th at the age of 92. Alice was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Alice was born in Merrimack, N.H., on August 17, 1930, to John and Mary Smith. She graduated from Merrimack High School in 1948 and went on to attend nursing school at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua. After graduating from nursing school, Alice worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital for over 30 years.
Alice married Robert Callis in 1952, and the couple had three children: John, Mary, and James. Alice was a devoted wife and mother, and she always put her family first. She was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church in Merrimack, where she served on the Altar Guild and the Christian Education Committee.
Alice was a kind and caring person who always had a smile on her face. She was always willing to help others, and she was a great friend to many people. Alice enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and she loved to travel. She had a special place in her heart for the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and she enjoyed hiking and camping there with her family.
Alice is survived by her children, John Callis of Nashua, Mary Callis of Merrimack, and James Callis of Manchester; her grandchildren, Sarah Callis, Emily Callis, and William Callis; and her sister, Jane Smith of Merrimack.
A memorial service for Alice will be held on August 17th at 11 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church in Merrimack, N.H. A reception will follow the service in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. James United Methodist Church Altar Guild or the Christian Education Committee.
