Death Notice: Clarence Barker

Obituary:
Clarence Barker, 87, of Augusta, Maine, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023, at MaineGeneral Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Clarence was born in Hallowell, Maine, on July 15, 1935, the son of the late Clarence and Mary Barker. He graduated from Hall-Dale High School in 1953 and went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.
After his military service, Clarence worked as a machinist for several companies in the Augusta area, including Stanley Tools and Bath Iron Works. He was a skilled craftsman and took great pride in his work.
Clarence was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, and camping with his family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post 2 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3335 in Augusta.
Clarence is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Smith) Barker; his children, Clarence “Chip” Barker Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Augusta, and Susan Barker of Manchester; his grandchildren, Ryan Barker and his wife, Sarah, of Hallowell, and Emily Barker of Augusta; and his great-grandchildren, Liam and Charlotte Barker of Hallowell.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Augusta at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta.
