Obituary: David Allen Gates Sr.

David Allen Gates Sr., 82, of Salem, WI, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024. He was born February 12, 1942, in Chicago, IL, to the late Kenneth and Elizabeth (Koletsos) Gates.

On August 20, 1994, David was united in marriage with Vicki Johnson in Bristol, WI. He served his country in the United States Navy and was a proud veteran.

David was an avid car enthusiast, who enjoyed car shows and his beloved 1957 Chevy. He was a Free Mason and enjoyed being a member of the Lodge. David was a proud father and grandfather, who was always cheering them on at events.

Survivors include, his wife of nearly 30 years, Vicki Gates; son, Kenneth (Lisa) Gates; step-son, Jason (Sara) Harvey; grandchildren, Brant, Dane, Dylan, and Ryan Gates; step-grandchildren, Jonathan and Brooke Harvey; daughter-in-law, Gabi Gates; and brother, Daniel (Kazia) Gates. Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by his son, David Gates Jr.

David Allen Gates Sr. was a man who lived his life to the fullest. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was also a proud veteran and a member of the Free Masons. David had a passion for cars and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

David was a kind and generous man who always put others before himself. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
