Obituary

Dora Helen Moody, a beloved resident of Waterville, Maine, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was 87 years old.

Dora was born on May 15, 1936, in Waterville, Maine, to parents John and Mary Smith. She graduated from Waterville High School in 1954 and went on to earn a degree in nursing from the University of Maine at Augusta in 1958.

Dora worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years, dedicating her life to caring for others. She worked at several hospitals in the Waterville area, including MaineGeneral Medical Center and Inland Hospital.

In addition to her nursing career, Dora was also an active member of the Waterville community. She was a volunteer at the local soup kitchen and served on the board of directors for the Waterville Public Library.

Dora was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert Moody; her children, Susan Moody of Waterville, Maine, and John Moody of Portland, Maine; her grandchildren, Sarah Moody of Boston, Massachusetts, and Emily Moody of New York City, New York; and her great-grandchildren, Ethan and Sophia.

Dora will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the entire Waterville community.

Funeral Arrangements

A funeral service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Waterville, Maine, on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Waterville Public Library, 145 Main Street, Waterville, Maine 04901.
