Bama Mae Dismuke of Rockford departed this earthly life January 18, 2023. She was born October 29, 1935 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama the daughter Ernest and Lillie Brown. Bama lived in Rockford since 1966 coming from Delhi, Louisiana. She married Booker T. Dismuke Sr., July 12, 1952, he preceded her in death. Bama was employed by Admiral Television in Harvard, IL, as a clerk at One Stop Pharmacy, and machine operator by Carlson Capital. Bama was a former member of Westside C.O.G.I.C. and Greater New Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C. For the last 8 years she had embraced her Israelite Roots. Bama worked faithfully as a Election Judge. She attended schools in Louisiana and later received her G.E.D. at the age of 60.
Bama leaves to cherish many loving memories, two daughters, Verna Crane and Donna (Raymond) Davis; four sons, Booker T. (Yvonne) Dismuke Jr., Kenneth (Linda) Dismuke, Allen (Jimmie) Dismuke and Rufus (Teresa) Dismuke; step daughter, Debbie Wright; 31 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; brother, Bobby Brown; sisters, Betty (Purvis) McDaniels, Ruthie (James) Evans, Joann Chiles, Emma (Rico) Patterson and Georgia (Henry) Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including god children, Belinda Bisson and Pastor Samuel Newton. She was predeceased by her parents; sons, Lee, Curtis and Michael Dismuke; daughter Linda Bond; sisters, Erma Hembrick, and Diane Wilkins; brothers, Amos, Ernest Jr., Jesse and Robert Brown.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Greater New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ 3533 Montrose Avenue. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
