A Life of Service and Love

Delores Ann Morrison, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and educator, passed away peacefully on May 26th, 2024, at the age of 94. Throughout her long and eventful life, Delores left an indelible mark on the hearts of countless individuals, inspiring and supporting her community with unwavering dedication.

Early Life and Education

Delores was born on October 16th, 1929, in Austin, Minnesota, to George Henry and Melinda (Esser) Johnson. Growing up as the youngest of three siblings in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, she developed a strong work ethic and a love of learning that would shape her future endeavors.

Delores excelled in her studies, graduating valedictorian from Blooming Prairie High School in 1947. She continued her education at Mankato State Teachers College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951 with honors. Her unwavering commitment to her students and her passion for her profession were evident from the beginning.

Teaching Career

After graduating, Delores began her teaching career at Lakeville Junior/High Schools, where she dedicated 18 years to educating and inspiring young minds. She taught English and Physical Education, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with countless students. Her innovative teaching methods and unwavering support for every child made her a beloved figure in the school community.

Love and Family

On August 16th, 1952, Delores married her high school sweetheart, Alan Morrison, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie. Their love story spanned 57 years, during which they raised four children together: Thomas, Lynn, Steven, and David. Delores’s unwavering dedication to her family extended to her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who she loved unconditionally.

Retirement Years

Upon retiring from teaching, Delores and Alan embarked on many adventures together. They traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, creating memories that would last a lifetime. They also enjoyed spending winters in Arizona, where Delores indulged in her love of golf and other outdoor activities.

Hobbies and Interests

Delores was an avid athlete who enjoyed daily walks, swimming, and dancing. She also excelled in games such as bridge, 500, bingo, and poker. Her competitive spirit and love of socializing were evident in her enthusiastic participation in these activities.

In addition to her many hobbies, Delores was a devout Catholic and a regular attendee of All Saints Catholic Church in Lakeville. She walked to daily mass and adoration, finding solace and inspiration in her faith.

Legacy

Delores Ann Morrison will be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and teacher. Her unwavering commitment to her students, her community, and her family left an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Funeral Arrangements

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to White Funeral Home of Lakeville. Visitation will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Lakeville on May 30th, 2024, at 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Interment will take place at All Saints Catholic Cemetery.
