In Memoriam: Joyce Ann Edgerly Hamrick, a Beloved Matriarch and Community Pillar

Joyce Ann Edgerly Hamrick passed away peacefully on July 29th at the age of 84. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Joyce was a lifelong resident of Madison, where she raised her family and made countless contributions to her community.

Joyce was born in Madison on May 15, 1939, to the late John and Mary Edgerly. She graduated from Madison High School in 1957 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Hamrick, in 1959. Together, they had three children: David, Susan, and John.

Joyce was a devoted wife and mother. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always there for them, offering love, support, and guidance.

In addition to her family, Joyce was passionate about volunteering in her community. She was a longtime member of the Madison Historical Society and the Madison Public Library. She also served on the board of the Madison Food Pantry and volunteered at the local hospital.

Joyce was a kind and compassionate person who always put the needs of others before her own. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert Hamrick; her children, David Hamrick (wife Jane), Susan Hamrick-Brown (husband John), and John Hamrick (wife Sarah); her grandchildren, Michael Hamrick, Caitlin Hamrick, Emily Hamrick-Brown, and Elizabeth Hamrick-Brown; and her great-grandchildren, Ethan Hamrick and Ava Hamrick.

Private funeral services were held on August 2nd at Dan and Scott’s Cremation and Funeral Services in Skowhegan.
