Early Life and Education

Marie was born on March 20, 1934, in Portland, Maine, to Cecile Legendre Fitzgerald and Robert James Fitzgerald. She graduated from Waterville High School and went on to serve her country as a W.A.V.E in the United States Navy.

Career and Community Involvement

After her honorable discharge from the Navy, Marie worked for Colby College as a housekeeper. She also worked part-time for Advance 1 Cleaning Services until she was 80 years old. Marie was a devoted member of Notre Dame Church in Waterville, where she actively participated in various church activities.

Personal Life

Marie was a kind and gentle soul who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a beloved mother to her son, Charles Varney, and a loving sister to her brother, Robert Fitzgerald. Marie was also a cherished aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
