Ruby Ann Cockfield
April 16, 1941 – January 29, 2023
Ruby Ann Cockfield, of Rockford departed this earthly life January 29, 2023. She was born April 16, 1941 in Ripley, MS the daughter of Ray and Hannah Ellis. Ruby lived in Rockford since 1978 coming from Elgin, IL, living most of her youth in Chicago. She married Leslie Cockfield, October 19, 1988. She was employed as a binder by R.R. Donnelley and Sons Company over 18 years before retiring. She was also a receptionist for Sears service department several years. Ruby was a member of the Princess Zorah Eastern Star. She graduated from Wendell Phillips High School in Chicago, IL and attended Martin Luther King Jr. College in Chicago.
Ruby leaves to cherish many loving memories, her husband, Leslie Sr; step children, Leslie Cockfield Jr., and Sonya L. (Rev. Patrick) Randall; five grandchildren; Darniesha Taylor, Elijah Cockfield, TajZhyiana Cockfield, Leslie Cockfield III, and Qwintez Cockfield; and five great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until the time of service
