Ruth Gail Horton of Rockford departed this earthly life December 18, 2022. She was born September 2, 1948 in Athens, Alabama the daughter of Sammuei and Manie Moore.  Ruth lived over 50 years in Rockford coming from Athens. She married L. C. Horton, he preceded her in death. Ruth was last employed as a DORS worker. She graduated from High School in Athens.

Ruth leaves to cherish many loving memories, grandson, Darrion Guess; great grandchildren; Jannell, Amaujion, Arianna, Caleb, Dontae, Elijah, Zarianna, and De’Ari; step daughters, Angela Green, Alicia Fair and Alonda Johnson; a host of other friends including special friends, Cathy Pearson and Judy Brown.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband; daughter, Anita Moore; grandson, Fredrick Guess Jr;  two brothers, Rev. James Moore and Sammuei Moore Jr.

Services will be held 11:00a.m. Friday, December 30, 2022 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
