Simonne Y. Skoczolek, Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, Passes Away at 83
Chelmsford, Massachusetts – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Simonne Y. (Fournier) Skoczolek, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated Catholic. Simonne passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024, surrounded by her loving family after a period of declining health.
A Life Devoted to Family and Faith
Simonne was born on July 22, 1940, in Lowell, Massachusetts, to the late Leo and Alma (Morin) Fournier. Raised in Lowell, she attended St. Louis School. In 1967, she married Stanley Skoczolek, who became her lifelong partner in love and faith. Together, they raised two children, Stephen and Sandra.
Simonne’s faith was a central part of her life. She was a devout Catholic and dedicated much of her time and resources to supporting Catholic charities. Her unwavering belief in God and her strong sense of community made her a pillar of the St. Mary Parish in Chelmsford, where she was a communicant.
A Successful Career in Insurance
Prior to her retirement, Simonne had a successful career in the insurance industry. She worked for several insurance agencies in the Lowell area for many years, where she earned a reputation as a knowledgeable and dedicated professional.
A Legacy of Love and Kindness
Simonne will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Stanley Skoczolek; her two children, Stephen Skoczolek of Chelmsford and Sandra Skoczolek Adam of Tucson, Arizona; and her granddaughter, Hannah Adam. She also leaves behind several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Simonne’s legacy will live on through the memories of her loving spirit, her unwavering faith, and her dedication to her family and community. She will be remembered as a remarkable example of a woman who lived her life with grace, kindness, and unwavering love.
Visiting Hours and Funeral Mass
Visiting hours for Simonne will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the M. R. Laurin & Son Funeral Home, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock at St. Mary Church, Chelmsford. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Simonne’s memory to a Catholic charity of your choice.
