Obituary: Virginia Ann Ferris
A Life Well Lived
Virginia Ann Ferris, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the age of 95. She was reunited with her loving husband, Ferris P. Ferris, who preceded her in death.
Virginia was born on September 13, 1928, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to Budway and Jennie (Joseph) Gabriel. She graduated from New Castle High School and married the love of her life shortly after. Together, they raised a family of seven children while living in various locations, including Boston and Waterville, Maine, before finally settling in Las Vegas, Nevada to be closer to their grandchildren.
Virginia was a dedicated and successful Avon Products district manager, traveling throughout the state of Maine and making countless friends along the way. Her signature style and elegance were a sight to behold, whether she was attending business meetings or dancing at the Hafli to support St. Joseph’s Maronite Church.
Known for her grace, determination, and strength, Virginia lived a life filled with purpose and meaning. She saw challenges as opportunities for growth and instilled these values in those around her. Her unwavering faith in God and her family were the cornerstones of her existence.
Virginia leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration. She is survived by her seven children: Richard Ferris, Karen Eisner, Freddy Ferris, Sheila Ferris-Beaton, Joseph (Christy) Ferris, Lori and Doug DeCreny, and Peter and Alina Ferris; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, with another on the way. She will also be deeply missed by her two surviving sisters, Helen Gentile and Lorraine Shaheen.
Virginia’s memory will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched. Her kindness, encouragement, and unwavering support will forever be cherished by those who knew her. She was a true matriarch who exemplified the strength of family bonds.
Funeral Arrangements
Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 31 at Gallant Funeral Home in Waterville, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 1 at St. Joseph Maronite Church in Waterville. Burial will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
Additional services will also be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, prior to the services in Maine.
