Wendy Sue (Claire) Watkins, of Rockford departed this earthly life January 2, 2023. She was born September 29, 1962 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Richard Sr., and Readie Mae Clark. Wendy lived in Rockford over 30 years coming from Chicago. She married Marcus Watkins, November 25, 2003. Wendy was employed as a Certified Nurses Assistant by Fairview Nursing Home. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church, serving on the Usher Board.  She attended Chicago Public Schools.

Wendy Sue, leaves to cherish many loving memories, her husband Marcus Watkins;  two sons, Kenyada (Celena) Clark and Karl (Nicole) Woods; two daughters, Kathleen and Readie Clark; five grandchildren; Kendaze, Paris, Deshawn, Rejnee, and Ka’ree; one great grand daughter, Nola; three sisters, Adline Bowen, Evelina and Christina Clark; brothers, Richard Jr. (Hayat Muhammad) Clark, Robert Lee (Lucy) Clark, Darrell Clark, Ronald Clark Emmanuel (Toya) Clark and Lawrence Clark; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; grandson; and sister, Catherine Patton.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Freedom Baptist Church 1406 School Street. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
