Gary Bruggenthies, Beloved Family Man and Community Leader, Passes Away at 65

Gary Bruggenthies, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on June 5th, surrounded by his loving family. He was 65 years old.

Gary was born on April 30th, 1959 in Minneapolis to Alcuin & Margaret Bruggenthies. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Sharon, their children Dan, Bill, Rob, Tom, Laura, Ben, and four beautiful grandchildren: Kyle, Brooklyn, Sierra, and Aurora. Also, he is survived by his siblings: Joe, Julie, Glenda, John, and Greg.

Gary graduated from Mankato State University with a degree in accounting and worked at Scott County Public Works as an accountant for 25 years. He exemplified the values of integrity, kindness, and generosity. He was a friend to all who knew him, always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. His warm smile and hearty laugh would often light up any room, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Gary had a passion for many hobbies and interests such as golf, softball, hunting, and political endeavors. However, his hobbies and interests were overshadowed by his commitment to his Lord and Savior and a spiritual leader to his family. Gary dedicated much of his time to the political community as an activist and leader. He always felt responsibility in the direction his country was moving. Gary also dedicated time to minister the hope of the gospel to those in jail. He was a beacon within the church as a deacon, and his sermons brought tremendous insight into the word.

Gary Bruggenthies will be remembered for his strength in adversity, his warm laugh and smile, his ability to make friends and make others feel welcome. His legacy of kindness and compassion to the “least of these” leaves behind a model to everyone he influenced and an example of his selflessness. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Bethels Rock Church, 6300 212th St W, Farmington, MN 55024. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Thursday, June 13, at White Funeral Home, Lonsdale MN, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Rest in peace, Gary Bruggenthies. You will be forever missed and never forgotten.
