George M. Corey Jr., 84, of Sidney, Passes Away

Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather

George M. Corey Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024, at his home in Sidney. He was 84 years old.

A Life Well-Lived

George was born in Augusta, Maine, on February 11, 1940, to George Sr. and Mary Corey. He grew up in Hallowell and attended local schools. After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Army for two years.

Upon returning home, George married the love of his life, Patricia. Together, they raised three children: Michael, David, and Sarah. George worked as a machinist for over 40 years at the Bath Iron Works, where he was known for his dedication and hard work.

In his free time, George enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was also an avid golfer and played regularly at the Augusta Country Club. George was a devoted member of the Sidney United Methodist Church, where he served on several committees and sang in the choir.

Legacy of Love and Kindness

George will be remembered for his kind heart, his infectious smile, and his love for his family. He was always there for his children and grandchildren, offering support and encouragement. He had a special bond with his wife, Patricia, and they were inseparable during their 58 years of marriage.

Mourned by Many

George is survived by his wife, Patricia; his three children, Michael Corey of Sidney, David Corey of Augusta, and Sarah Corey of Portland; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Arrangements

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Sidney United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Augusta.
