A Journey of Love and Faith

Born on June 20, 1931, in Cullman County, Alabama, to the late Leonard and Beatrice Smith, Hue lived a life marked by unwavering devotion to his faith and the love of his family. He found his soulmate in Mary Louise Smith, with whom he shared countless cherished memories until her passing. Together, they raised two daughters, Becky Roden and the late Debra Smith Collum, who were the apples of their eyes.

A Legacy of Family and Faith

Hue’s legacy extends far beyond his immediate family. He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to David Kelso, Tamy Dunlap, Daniel Kelso, Brett Putman, Leah Nuss, and the late Shane Putman. His great-grandchildren, Courtney Frazier, Cody Kelso, Marionna McDonald, Taylor Mayhall, Cole Kelso, Peyton Kelso, Elijah Putman, and eight great-great-grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy.

Hue was an active member of Center Hill Baptist Church, where he found solace and guidance throughout his life. His unwavering faith served as a beacon of hope and strength for his family and friends.

A Remembrance with Love

Funeral Arrangements

Funeral services for Hue Elijah Smith will be held at Center Hill Baptist Church in Hanceville on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM. The burial will follow the service in the adjoining cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hanceville Funeral Home and again at Center Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Center Hill Baptist Church in memory of Hue Elijah Smith.
