James Patrick “Jim” Weiss Obituary

James Patrick “Jim” Weiss, 85, of Hyde Park, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, at Hershey Medical Center. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Jim was born on December 18, 1938, in Reading, Pennsylvania, to Henry Matthew Weiss, Jr. and Gertrude Elizabeth (Cody) Weiss. He was a 1956 graduate of Reading High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the construction of the Berlin Wall in West Germany.
Jim was a dedicated employee of Reading Railroad and later Conrail for 42 years, retiring in 1999 as an electrician. He was an avid music lover and a diehard Phillies fan. He enjoyed weekly breakfasts with his buddies and was often seen driving around Muhlenberg in his beloved Mercedes Benz SUV.
Jim is survived by his brother, Thomas A. Weiss; nieces: Kathy Weiss-Slemmer, Cheryl Seyfert, and Heather Gapinski; nephews: Mark Hyde, Kevin Hyde, Timothy Weiss, and Matthew Weiss; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly (Clark) Weiss; his sisters, Patricia A. Weiss and Geri M. (Weiss) Seaman; and his identical twin brother, Henry M. “Harry” Weiss.
Services for Jim will be held privately at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s honor to Zoe’s House Inc. at P.O Box 2372, Reading, PA 19608.
