James Watson’s remarkable journey began in Newcastle upon Tyne, where he was born to a Scottish police officer father and a midwife mother. Watson’s initial assignments involved working on the LEO, the pioneering business computer, and ICL 1900s. His exceptional knowledge earned him a place as an authority on these systems, as evidenced by his later contributions to the National Museum of Computing in Bletchley. His invaluable insights helped correct inaccuracies in the museum’s explanation of the ICL 1900s operation.
