Remembering Jay Andrew Foster: A Life Well-Lived
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jay Andrew Foster, age 88, of Longview, Texas, on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
Jay lived a full and meaningful life, filled with love, laughter, and service to his family, friends, and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Devoted Husband and Father
Jay was a devoted husband to his wife of 63 years, Nancy (Work) Foster. Together, they raised three children: Kristi (Perry) Ryals, Kelly (Gary) Bray, and Jay “Andy” Foster (who preceded him in death in 2022).
Jay was a loving and supportive father who always put his family first. He was a role model for his children and grandchildren, teaching them the importance of hard work, integrity, and kindness.
A Dedicated Veteran and Businessman
After graduating from high school, Jay attended Case Western Reserve University. He then enlisted in the US Army and served as a Korean War veteran.
Following his military service, Jay began his career in the Savings and Loan industry. However, his true passion was in the kitchen cabinet manufacturing industry. He assisted many companies in starting their manufacturing facilities across the country, including Merillat Industries in 1978 in Lakeville.
Jay was a successful businessman who was respected by his colleagues and customers alike. He was a visionary leader who helped shape the industry.
A Pillar of the Community
Jay was an active member of the business community in Lakeville and served as Chamber of Commerce President in 1982. He was also a faithful member of the Church of Christ and loved serving his community.
Jay was known for his generosity and compassion. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
A Legacy of Love
Jay’s legacy will live on through his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed.
Jay’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul, MN, and Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, TX, for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either Our Lady of Peace Hospice or Hospice of East Texas.
Memorial Service
A memorial service for Jay Andrew Foster will be held at White Funeral Home, 20134 Kenwood Trail, Lakeville, MN, on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 11:00 am.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
A family graveside service will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
