Obituary: Joseph Carter, Fairfield Resident, Dies at 65

Joseph Carter, a longtime resident of Fairfield, Maine, passed away peacefully at his home on July 15th. He was 65 years old.

Carter was born and raised in Waterville, Maine. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1975 and went on to attend the University of Maine at Farmington, where he earned a degree in business administration. After graduating from college, Carter returned to Fairfield and began working for his family’s business, Carter’s Hardware.

Carter was a dedicated employee and eventually took over the business from his father. He was a well-respected member of the Fairfield community and served on the town council for several years. He was also a member of the local Rotary Club and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.

Carter was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary; his two children, Joseph Jr. and Sarah; and his three grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, and Ava.

A funeral service will be held for Carter on July 26th at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church in Waterville. A reception will follow the service at the American Legion Hall in Fairfield, and burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery.
