Obituary: Mrs. Dale Louise Powell, Beloved Cullman Matriarch
A Life of Love, Service, and Creativity
Cullman, AL – The Cullman community is mourning the loss of one of its most cherished members, Mrs. Dale Louise Powell, who passed away peacefully at Cullman Regional Medical Center on July 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 6, 1937, in Cullman, Alabama, to Louis Monroe and Annie Levonia Evans, Mrs. Powell dedicated her life to family, community, and the pursuit of her passions.
Family Legacy
Mrs. Powell is survived by her children: Ginger Kay Cullen of Panama City, Mark A. (M’Kori) Johnson of Cullman, Van D. (Melissa) Johnson of Fort Walton, Jerme Powell of Cullman, and Cindy (Shawn) Self of Good Hope.
Her legacy extends to 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply. She will be remembered as a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Community Involvement
Mrs. Powell was an active and dedicated member of the Cullman community. Her involvement in the Senior Citizens of Cullman through the Cullman Commission on Aging allowed her to share her love of arts and crafts with others.
As a former owner of a gas station in Vinemont, she became a local icon, known for her warm smile and the delicious biscuits she baked fresh every morning.
Master Gardener and Pastry Chef
Mrs. Powell was a true jack-of-all-trades. Her passion for gardening earned her the title of Master Gardener, and she spent countless hours tending to her beautiful flower beds.
She was also an accomplished cake baker and decorator, creating stunning works of art for weddings and other special occasions. Her cakes were not only visually impressive but also a testament to her love of baking.
Celebration of Life
Mrs. Powell’s family will hold a graveside service in her honor on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Hamby’s Chapel Cemetery on Eva Road. Friends and family are invited to gather at Moss Service Funeral Home from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm prior to the service.
