Marie was born in Skowhegan, Maine, on November 12, 1937, to John and Mary (Smith) Doe. She graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1955 and went on to pursue a career in nursing. Marie worked as a registered nurse at Redington-Fairview General Hospital for over 30 years, where she was known for her compassion and dedication to her patients.
