The Crane Hill community mourns the passing of Norma Purvis Quick, a beloved resident and matriarch, at the age of 89 on May 22, 2024.

A Life Filled with Love and Legacy

Norma Purvis Quick was born on [Birth Date] to John Sparks Purvis and Ollie Mae Olice Purvis. Growing up in a close-knit family with numerous siblings, she developed strong bonds that lasted throughout her life.

Norma found her soulmate in James Euell Quick, and they embarked on a beautiful marriage that spanned many years. Together, they raised two loving daughters, Teri and Jami.

Norma’s career as the secretary to Dental Service of UAB for approximately 15 years brought her great fulfillment. She was a highly respected and dedicated employee who made a significant contribution to the organization.

A Pillar of the Community

Norma was an active member of Five Mile Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, AL for an impressive 64 years. Her faith was central to her life, and she found solace and inspiration within the church community.

Norma’s interests extended well beyond her work and faith. She was an avid watcher of Fox News, keeping herself informed on current events and political discourse. She loved reading, finding solace and knowledge in books. Music filled her home with joy, and she had a particular fondness for classical and country genres.

Gardening brought Norma immense pleasure. She spent countless hours tending to her beautiful flowers and plants, creating a lush oasis around her home.

A Home on Smith Lake

In 2001, Norma and her family moved to their home on picturesque Smith Lake. The lakefront property became a cherished retreat, where they created countless memories and enjoyed the tranquility of nature.

Norma adored her family above all else. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren, Karli and Casey, and her six great-grandchildren brought her endless joy and laughter.

Family and Legacy

Norma is survived by her daughters, Teri (Randy) Braden and Jami (Wade) Payne; her grandchildren, Karli (Pete) Maloney and Casey (Matt) Helms; and her beloved great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her extended family and the countless friends who held her dear.

Her legacy as a kind, loving, and steadfast woman will live on through her family and the community she touched.
