Betty Jane Hanninen, Beloved Matriarch and Burnsville Resident, Passes Away at 92
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Jane Hanninen, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024, at her home in Burnsville, Minnesota, surrounded by her loving family.
A Life Filled with Love and Legacy
Born on August 19, 1931, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Betty Jane was the daughter of Harold and Helen Uchner. Her unwavering love and dedication to her family defined her life.
In 1949, she married the love of her life, Arnold Hanninen, in Wadena, Minnesota. Together, they welcomed three children: Gary, Greg, and Sandy. Betty Jane’s love for her children was boundless, and she cherished every moment with them.
A Legacy of Service and Community
Betty Jane had a deep-rooted passion for serving her community. For over 30 years, she dedicated herself to Red Owl, where her hard work and dedication made a significant impact.
After retiring from Red Owl, Betty Jane’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to open Country Porch Antiques out of her home. She ran the shop with the help of her granddaughters, passing on her love for antiques and the art of finding hidden treasures.
Betty Jane was an avid animal lover and enjoyed spending time tending to her gardens, cooking delicious meals for her family, and attending family events. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, warm smile, and unwavering support.
A Cherished Memory
Betty Jane’s legacy will live on through her children, Gary Hanninen and Sandy (Raymond) Lawver; grandchildren, Natalie Johnson, Jon (Julia) and Emily Hanninen; siblings, Sharon (Tom) Andrie and Joan Boche; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Betty Jane is predeceased by her husband, Arnold; son, Greg; grandsons, Hunter and Ryan; and siblings, Faye Stroeh, Harold “Jr” Uchner, Joyce Andrie, Bob Uchner, and Don Boche.
A Celebration of Life
A funeral service honoring Betty Jane Hanninen’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM at White Funeral Home, located at 12804 Nicollet Avenue South in Burnsville, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.
Betty Jane will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Animal Humane Society in Betty Jane’s memory.
Betty Jane Hanninen was an exceptional woman who touched the lives of countless individuals. Her unwavering love, kindness, and zest for life will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
