Deanna “Dee” M. Keever, 85, of Winter Haven, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Early Life and Career
Deanna was born on March 7, 1938, in Painesville, Ohio, to Michael and Thelma Wirenius. After graduating from Harvey High School in 1956, she embarked on a successful career in Human Resources. She worked for Diamond Shamrock and later retired from Eltech Systems in 1994.
Health Challenges and Triumphs
In 1978, Deanna was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time. With unwavering courage and determination, she fought and overcame the disease several times throughout her lifetime. Her resilience and positive spirit inspired all who knew her.
Retirement and Community Involvement
Upon her retirement, Deanna and her beloved husband, Bill, adopted the snowbird lifestyle. They spent half of the year in Florida and the other half in Ohio. Deanna was an incredibly active member of her community. She was a Red Hatter, a sociable coffee aficionado, an avid walker, and a consummate baker. She enjoyed golfing with Bill and their friends, hosting parties, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Breast Cancer Activism and Community Involvement
Deanna’s unwavering spirit was evident in her involvement with breast cancer awareness and support. She participated in two Breast Cancer 3-Days and organized numerous St. Patrick’s Day parties and community garage sales. Her contributions to the community and her dedication to helping others will be deeply missed.
Family and Legacy
Deanna is survived by her devoted husband, William “Bill” Keever; her brother, David Wirenius (Mary); her children, Tim, Terri (Bernie), Michael (Robin), Jeff, and William Jr.; her grandchildren, Tina, Lauren, TJ, Michael (Madie), and Rachel; and her great-granddaughter, Raela Jo. She will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, her unwavering spirit, and the countless lives she touched.
Memorial Services and Donation Request
Family and friends are invited to gather at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio, on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at Concord Cemetery, 11691 Concord Hambden Road, Painesville, OH, on May 31, 2024, at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society in Deanna’s memory.
