His unwavering love and guidance left an enduring mark on the lives of his children: Doug Young, Keith Young (Linda), Becky Johnson, and Laura Whitfield (Michael). He adored his grandchildren: Haley Callaway (Robbie), Baylee Johnson (Dylan), Chloe Cox, and Taylor Whitfield, and his great-grandsons, Matthew Tennyson and Elijah Morris.

Sonny’s compassionate nature extended beyond his immediate family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and was deeply committed to serving his community. The funeral services for Douglas “Sonny” Wade Young Sr. will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will take place at Hopewell Cemetery following the service.
Prior to the service, there will be a visitation from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Hanceville Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Sonny’s memory and celebrate his life.

The pallbearers who will have the honor of carrying Sonny to his final resting place include: Michael Whitfield, Wade Smith, Robbie Morris, Dylan Spencer, Hunter Baker, and RaeKwuan Spencer.
