Service Details

A Celebration of Life with military honors Service for Richard Morris Kocurek, Sr., LCpl, will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 3 p.m., at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation time with the family will be from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. prior to the service.

The service will be officiated by Mr. Kocurek’s son, Trent Kocurek, and Jay Maze.

Cullman Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.

Obituary

Richard Kocurek, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

Richard was born on March 25, 1955, in Houston, Texas to Alvin August Kocurek and Loyce Cheatham Kocurek. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Richard was a man of great integrity and compassion. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, even strangers. His family and friends describe him as a loyal and devoted companion with a quick wit and a mischievous sense of humor.

Richard’s love of the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing. He was also a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating several businesses throughout his life.

Richard is survived by his wife, Rebecca Kocurek; sons, Rick Kocurek (Emily), and Trent Kocurek (Terri); step-sons, Benjamin Curths, Jacob Curths, and Michael Curths; grandchildren, Sawyer Kocurek, Oliver Kocurek, Isla Kocurek, Tethys Curths; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Alvin August Kocurek, Jr.

Legacy

Richard Kocurek, Sr. was a true American hero and a devoted family man. His legacy of service, compassion, and entrepreneurship will continue to inspire his loved ones for generations to come.
