Paula Jean Caswell, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends on May 9, 2024, at the age of 81. She lived a full and vibrant life, filled with creativity, humor, and a love for adventure.

Early Life and Family

Paula was born on July 4, 1942, in Waterville, Maine, to parents Paul Harvey Allen and Jeannette Roxie Croteau. She graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1960 and soon after married Ronald F. Roderick. Together, they welcomed two sons, Rusty and Daniel. In 1975, Paula married Dennis L. Caswell, and they had one daughter, Melissa.

Paula was a dedicated and hardworking mother, raising her children with love and unwavering support. She worked in the grocery business for many years, where she developed a strong work ethic and a knack for customer service. In 1996, she joined her son Danny’s company, Mid Coast Woodworkers, as office manager. She worked alongside Danny for over two decades, enjoying the camaraderie and the opportunity to contribute to the family business.

A Passion for Creativity

Paula was a gifted and versatile artist. She was an accomplished seamstress, creating beautiful wedding dresses, smocked dresses, and knitted sweaters. She also loved to felt, creating whimsical and heartwarming creatures. Paula had an eye for design and a talent for making ordinary objects extraordinary.

She was an avid thrift store shopper, where she would hunt for hidden treasures and inspiration. Paula had a unique ability to transform secondhand items into works of art, and her home was filled with her creative touch.

A Spirit of Adventure and Exploration

In her later years, Paula embarked on a series of adventures that took her around the world. She traveled to Turkey, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Croatia, England, Germany, and many other destinations. She immersed herself in different cultures, made lifelong friends, and returned home with stories that filled her family and friends with wonder and inspiration.

Paula was a true adventurer, both in spirit and in practice. She embraced new experiences, challenged herself, and lived life to the fullest.

Celebration of Life

A celebration of Paula’s life will be held on Sunday, July 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Brunswick Golf Club. The family invites all who knew and loved Paula to attend and share their memories.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paula’s memory to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
