Robert Arthur McQuillan, Sidney Resident, Passes Away at Augusta

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Arthur McQuillan, a beloved resident of Sidney, Maine. Mr. McQuillan passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024, at Augusta.

Mr. McQuillan was born in Waterville, Maine, on January 10, 1945. He was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Smith) McQuillan. Mr. McQuillan grew up in Waterville and graduated from Waterville High School in 1963. He went on to attend the University of Maine at Orono, where he earned a degree in business administration.

After graduating from college, Mr. McQuillan returned to Waterville and began his career in the insurance industry. He worked for several years as an insurance agent before starting his own business, McQuillan Insurance Agency. Mr. McQuillan ran his business for over 30 years, providing insurance coverage to individuals and businesses throughout Maine. He was a respected member of the Waterville business community and was known for his honesty and integrity.

Mr. McQuillan was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He married his wife, Susan, in 1968. They had two children, Robert Jr. and Mary. Mr. McQuillan was a loving and supportive father and was always involved in his children’s lives. He coached their sports teams, attended their school events, and was always there for them when they needed him.

Mr. McQuillan was also a proud grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was always willing to play games with them, read them stories, and take them on adventures. He was a great role model for his grandchildren and taught them the importance of hard work, honesty, and compassion.

Mr. McQuillan was a man of faith. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Waterville, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Mr. McQuillan was also a member of the Waterville Rotary Club, where he served as president for two years. He was actively involved in his community and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Mr. McQuillan will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community. He was a kind and compassionate man who always put others before himself. He will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his work, and his unwavering faith.

Life Celebration

A celebration of Mr. McQuillan’s life will be held at the Waterville Elks Club on August 3, 2024, at 10 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. McQuillan’s memory to the First Baptist Church in Waterville or the Waterville Rotary Club.
