Belgrade Woman, Sandra Lewis, Passes Away at 87

Belgrade, Maine – Sandra Lewis, a beloved resident of Belgrade, passed away peacefully on July 21 at the age of 87. Sandra was a kind and caring woman who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Sandra was born in Augusta, Maine on January 10, 1935. She grew up in Augusta and attended local schools before graduating from Cony High School in 1953. After high school, Sandra worked as a secretary for several years before marrying her husband, John Lewis, in 1957.
Sandra and John settled in Belgrade, where they raised their two children, David and Susan. Sandra was a devoted wife and mother, and she always put her family first. She was also an active member of the Belgrade community, volunteering her time at the Belgrade Public Library and serving on the Belgrade Historical Society.
In her later years, Sandra enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, and reading. She was also a talented artist, and she loved to paint landscapes and portraits.
Sandra is survived by her husband, John; her children, David and Susan; her grandchildren, Emily and Matthew; and her sister, Janice. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Helen Smith.
A funeral service for Sandra will be held at Plummer Funeral Home in Augusta on July 28 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Belgrade Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Belgrade Public Library or the Belgrade Historical Society.
Sandra Lewis will be remembered as a kind and loving woman who was always there for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
