Obituary: Walter George Hart Jr.

Walter George Hart Jr. of Pittston passed away on July 12, 2024. He was 80 years old.

Walter was born in Pittston on January 1, 1944, to Walter George Hart Sr. and Mary (Smith) Hart. He graduated from Pittston Area High School in 1962 and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

After his military service, Walter returned to Pittston and worked as a carpenter for many years. He was a member of the East Pittston United Methodist Church and the Pittston American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and hunting.

Walter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret (Jones) Hart; his children, Walter George Hart III and his wife, Susan, of Pittston; and Mary Margaret Hart of Pittston; and his grandchildren, Walter George Hart IV and Emily Margaret Hart.

A memorial service will be held at the East Pittston United Methodist Church on August 3 at 10 a.m., with a reception to follow. Committal will be held at Whitefield Cemetery on August 5 at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Pittston United Methodist Church or the Pittston American Legion.
