Remembering Philip John Darula: A Life Well-Lived

A Journey Filled with Adventure and Love

Philip John Darula, a true adventurer at heart, embarked on a remarkable journey that spanned 71 years. Born on April 11, 1952, to John and Susan (Piljan) Darula in Bay Village, Ohio, Phil’s adventurous spirit led him to Fort Collins, Colorado, where he embraced the unknown.

Phil’s academic pursuits took him to Colorado State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree. With a thirst for knowledge and cultural enrichment, he traveled Europe with his mother and sister, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Finding Love and Building a Family

Fate smiled upon Phil when he met the love of his life, Pamela Ann Kern. Their love blossomed and culminated in a beautiful wedding ceremony at Spirit of Christ Catholic Church in Arvada, Colorado, on May 15, 1982.

As a devoted husband and father, Phil found immense joy in raising his two children, Sarah and Samuel. He became a pillar of support for his family, showering them with love and guidance.

Professional Accomplishments and a Legacy of Care

Phil’s professional journey began as a Drywall Installer, where he honed his skills and developed a strong work ethic. Following a career change, he pursued higher education and obtained a Master’s Degree from CU Denver.

With his newfound knowledge, Phil dedicated himself to a fulfilling career at Adams Community Mental Health Center, later known as Community Reach Center. For 29 years, he provided compassionate care to those in need, leaving an enduring legacy of service.

Hobbies and Passions: Nurturing Creativity and Home

Beyond his professional life, Phil found solace and joy in his hobbies. He transformed his backyard into a lush garden, where he cultivated vibrant blooms and tended to his plants with meticulous care.

Woodworking became another passion for Phil. He spent countless hours in his workshop, creating beautiful pieces that adorned his home and brought smiles to the faces of his loved ones.

Phil’s passion for home brewing allowed him to experiment with flavors and create his own unique concoctions, which he enjoyed sharing with friends and family.

A Celebration of Life: Honoring a Man of Character

On June 7, 2024, friends and family gathered at the Broomfield Community Center to celebrate Philip John Darula’s life. The room was filled with laughter, tears, and fond memories as they remembered a man known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.

Phil’s legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him. His love for his family, his passion for his hobbies, and his dedication to helping others have left an indelible mark on the world.
