The body of a 31-year-old woman, Tracy Nyariki, was found dismembered inside a car in Aberdeen, Maryland, after she was reported missing from her Newark, Delaware apartment. Police discovered suspicious circumstances at Nyariki’s apartment on Friday after her employer reported her absence from work. This led New Castle County Police to issue a missing person alert.

Neighbors in Nyariki’s apartment building expressed shock and sadness at the horrific crime. Nyier Rickes, a resident of the same building, stated that she had seen police at the scene since Saturday but initially assumed it was an unrelated incident. Another neighbor, Mike Taylor, expressed condolences for the victim’s family.

Detectives identified 32-year-old Norbert Matara as a person of interest and located him in Maryland. His vehicle, containing the dismembered remains of Nyariki, was found on Saturday. Matara was arrested at the scene. Police have confirmed that Nyariki and Matara were acquaintances, but the exact nature of their relationship remains undisclosed.

Matara is currently being held in a Maryland facility awaiting extradition to Delaware, where he will be arraigned on felony charges of first-degree murder.
