As noted in a recent column by John Crisp in the BDN, public schools are critical to promoting equal opportunity and the general well-being of all in our society. The dedicated teachers and professors of the Bangor School District have provided our three sons with a safe and respectful learning environment and enabled them to achieve their academic and professional goals. In addition, they were mentors, advisors and positive role models.

Bangor schools support all students, whether they are entering the workforce immediately after graduation, seeking additional technical training and qualifications or seeking a university education. They support a multitude of extracurricular activities and have paved the way for students who want to create new organizations that match their interests, if not already established.

Public schools are a wise investment for a community that wants to bring people of all backgrounds together and promote a brighter future for all our children and youth. To all those who dedicate their careers to the education of our youth, thank you!
