Queens Bus Driver Saves Boy: MTA Employee Acts as Good Samaritan
This week’s MTA Hero is Edward Kircher, a bus operator from the JFK bus depot in Queens. While driving a Q7 bus, Kircher noticed a young child traveling alone and a man attempting to give the child money and coax him off the bus. Quickly reacting, Kircher confronted the man, who subsequently fled. Kircher then ensured the young boy was safely reunited with his mother.

Kircher, a father himself, explains that he consistently monitors his passengers, paying particular attention to children. A seven-year veteran of the MTA, he cites interacting with customers as his favorite aspect of the job, treating everyone like family.
