Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will honor the 813th Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, the revered Sufi saint, by offering a chadar at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah on Sunday. The chadar, sent on his behalf, will be presented by Munawar Khan, former Vice President of the Dargah Committee. Minister Singh will depart from his Jaipur residence at 12 p.m. and is expected to arrive in Ajmer by 2 p.m. His message will be read aloud from the Buland Darwaza following the presentation.
This act of reverence follows a similar presentation on Saturday. A chadar sent by former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was offered at the shrine, accompanied by prayers for national and state-wide peace and harmony. BJP National executive member Majeed Malik Commando delivered the chadar on Raje’s behalf, and her message was subsequently read. Prayers were also offered for Raje’s well-being and continued peace and brotherhood in the country.
Earlier on Saturday, Union Minority and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju presented a chadar on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Minister Rijiju delivered the Prime Minister’s message at the dargah, amidst the ongoing Ajmer Dargah controversy. The Prime Minister’s message conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the followers of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti worldwide, emphasizing the saint’s enduring message of humanity and public welfare. Modi highlighted the Urs celebration’s importance in fostering unity and mutual respect, expressing his hope that it would inspire all to contribute to national betterment. He concluded by offering his prayers for the happiness and well-being of all Indians.
