Rebel Moon VR: Attack the Motherworld!

Netflix and Sandbox VR have teamed up to bring fans an immersive, action-packed virtual reality experience based on Zack Snyder’s *Rebel Moon* franchise. Launching January 7th at 55 Sandbox VR locations, *Rebel Moon: The Descent* plunges players into the heart of the rebellion.

The game invites players to join the resistance forces battling the Motherworld’s military on the planet Daggus. Players will experience thrilling combat scenarios as they navigate towering skyscrapers, treacherous urban streets, and a subterranean mine, engaging enemy soldiers and spacecraft along the way. The official description promises a visceral and exciting experience inspired by Snyder’s unique vision.

*Rebel Moon: The Descent* marks Sandbox VR’s tenth immersive experience and their second collaboration with Netflix, following the hugely successful *Squid Game* virtual reality game. The latter achieved phenomenal success, generating $4.56 million in just two months and establishing Sandbox VR’s potential for translating popular IPs into engaging VR experiences.

Sandbox VR CEO Steve Zhao, speaking to *Variety*, highlighted the company’s strategic approach to selecting IP for adaptation. He emphasized the importance of choosing franchises with strong fan bases and inherent suitability for VR, pointing to *Rebel Moon*’s action-packed nature and vibrant world as ideal characteristics. Zhao also expressed optimism for a continued partnership with Netflix, exploring further collaborations in the future.

Beyond *Rebel Moon: The Descent*, Netflix also plans to release another game set within the *Rebel Moon* universe directly on its streaming platform. This announcement serves as a reminder of Netflix’s expanding video game library, which already features notable titles such as the *Golden Idol* series, *Monument Valley 3*, *The Almost Gone*, and *Centipede Recharged*.
