Houston police said a drunken man stabbed three people at a family gathering Saturday night in an apartment complex in southeast Houston.

HOUSTON — A man was taken into custody Saturday night after stabbing multiple people in southeastern Houston, police said.

Houston police say it happened at the complex Plum Creek Drive Near the intersection of the Gulf Expressway and the 610 Loop, approximately 11:30 p.m.

When officers arrived at the complex, they found three men who had been stabbed.

Investigators said a family gathering was taking place when a drunken man who lived in the apartment complex turned up and began to woo another man’s wife.

The drunk man walked away but returned a short time later – this time with a kitchen knife, police said.

Another altercation erupted and the man stabbed three other men. A man was stabbed several times in his chest and face. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Another man was stabbed in his chest and stomach. He was taken to hospital and survived. A third victim was stabbed in the hand and was treated at the scene, officials said.

The suspect was detained with a knife, police said.
