7-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Shoots Himself in Southwest Houston
A seven-year-old boy was transported to a local hospital after accidentally shooting himself in the arm with a handgun in southwest Houston on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 12300 block of Sandpiper Drive.
According to Houston Police Department officials, several family members were present. An adult family member fell, dropping their firearm. The child then picked up the gun and unintentionally discharged it, striking himself in the right forearm. The boy was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Authorities have recovered the firearm and are currently investigating the incident.
