Severe Weather Sweeping Through Houston Area on Christmas Eve
Cypress, Texas – Severe weather impacted the Houston area on Christmas Eve, with the Cypress area experiencing intense golf-ball-sized hail. A tornado warning was issued for the region on Tuesday afternoon, and isolated strong storms continued throughout the night.
KPRC 2 viewers shared numerous videos and photos of the hailstorm on social media. One user reported, “After the possible tornado passed, the hail got really bad!” Other posts on X (formerly Twitter) showcased the severity of the weather, with descriptions like “It’s bonkers at my home right now in Cypress, TX,” accompanied by images and videos of major hail and rain. These posts highlighted the widespread impact of the storm across the Cypress area.
Strong and gusty winds were expected throughout the night into Christmas morning, along with potential strong wind gusts, lightning, and heavy rain. While the line of storms was primarily overnight, reports of hail continued to come in from other areas, including Greatwood Lake in Richmond, Texas, even after the initial wave.
Conditions were expected to improve by Christmas morning.
